      Not only does that sound pathetic, if they do send out checks, it’s going to help republicans because Americans are really fucking stupid. Democrats need to aim much, much higher. And they also need to stop treating this government like a legitimate government instead of the terrorist organization that it is.

      Refund checks would just go back to the importers who paid the tariffs.

      The best we could hope for is a temporary reduction in prices as they’re able to compete on price, but that is about as likely to happen to Elvis Presley crashing a UFO in the Loch Ness Monster.

      I don’t know what they will decide on how to payback illegal tariffs people have paid. But giving everyone a check is better than just giving businesses that can sue, checks.

      i love this because democrats know that the only people who are undecided about trump are dumber than hell, so they’re speaking their language. of course this will never happen, but that’s not the point. they’re shaking their keys in front of a baby to get its attention.

      Trump was originally saying we were taking in so much money we were all going to get a check. Dems should be selling him on this as „hey this was your idea, everyone will love it“ just to get it done, then lay out the failure on his part/illegality.

      I’d rather have it funds matched to Trump himself and then use that money to pay down the national debt.

      The last time Democrats got money for people during Covid, Trump put his name on the checks and took credit. I hope they are able to control the narrative this time if they succeed.

      Trump has made it perfectly clear. He will explore every avenue, legal or not, to raise taxes on Americans as steeply as he possibly can. Your life doesn’t cost nearly enough, according to Trump. And his crowd goes wiiiild.

      We’ve paid a LOT more than 1700 over this year because of that pedophile’s illegal tariffs. I think we should seize all of Trump’s assets and his families assets along with these ill gotten gains and divide them up ONLY for non Trump voters. We leave that 77 million out because as they love to say „this is what they voted for“.

      Won’t ever get them but that’s what now “$1,700”, “$2,000” and “$5,000” all “promised” by the Trump admin. $8,700 for each American…no one has seen a cent…sorry 5 cents…Pennies are gone too.

      We aren’t angry enough. When do we stop paying taxes? Sorry, when do we pour tea into the Boston harbor?

      Imagine how awesome our uniforms would look if we rose up against these tyrants. All decked out in American red white and blue.

      I think the checks need to be signed “democrats” and the memo needs to be “trumps tariffs stole this from you”

      They need to run on this – The Rebate. It should be the central thrust of the Democratic platform once we’re thru the primary process. Easy to sell to the average voter, and motivational for the otherwise ambivalent bloc.

      This should be handled how they SHOULD have handled the mortgage bailout. The money should have gone from the government to the people. Then they could pay their mortgages.

      This money should be paid to the people, because we’re the ones who paid the tariffs in the end.

      All of the money that was corruptly stolen by Trump and his allies (eg: Lutnick, Bessent, etc…) needs to be clawed back.
