Opening more safe consumption sites and low barrier housing would reduce majority of these issues since people would have a place to use and stay.
The thing conservative media wants to steer people towards is the idea that the homeless and drug addicts can be treated like animals and disposed of when inconvenient rather than the expected outcome of the system taking more wealth out of the system than it creates
The police should do their jobs and arrest these drug criminals, and force them into treatment.
It is completely unacceptable that law-abiding citizens are not able to freely use public services because they are overrun with these criminals. If this just gets worse, it will get harder and harder to get public support for large public spending – why fund a new library or transit line if it will be filled with filth and crime?
Arresting and institutionalizing drug criminals is good for the drug users, and good for society. It should be a policy supported by both the left and the right.
