The problem is not really the results because we already know that there are no majority of proponents of them, neither in Alberta nor in Quebec.
The problem is that just the action of pushing for a referendum is detrimental for the economy of a province and many pro-separation people are too „indoctrinated“ to care about any types of repercussions whatsoever.
If only every referendum had a clause that any „Yes to leave“ voter loses Canadian citizenship due to loyalty issues.
