      Staffers at CNN are melting down as Donald Trump and his cronies get ready to sink their claws into the network the president has openly despised for years.

      CNN appears destined for MAGA-friendly waters after Netflix boss Ted Sarandos declared that he was out of a deal to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery, the company that runs the network. This, of course, paves the way for the other bidder: David Ellison, the Paramount Skydance chief who has cozied up to President Donald Trump.

      “We are doomed,” one staffer told Status. “We are f—-d,” said another. “Everybody is reeling about the obvious things,” said a third staffer, with the network looking set to get the Bari Weiss treatment.

      I think we need to accept that CBS News and now CNN are simply gone, lost to the right-wing media ecosytem. So let someone pay a premium price for a brand. The credibility of the product will quickly fade, the right wing is dividing market segment, they will lose money on these takeovers, and it’s not like people are just going to keep watching when Christiane Amanpour is replaced by Nick Shirley and just think all is the same.

      As consumers, you can walk away. You don’t have to to watch. You can support media outlets not compromised by MAGA.

      Time to support independent media. Let them split views and take themselves down. Reason why Fox News was #1 for the longest time was because they ran unopposed.

      I feel like if anybody is still actively choosing to watch CNN today (like me) they are completely aware of what has been going on behind the scenes for the last few years and know when Dana Bash and Jake Tapper are being disingenuous.

      CNN viewers should check out a series of videos called „The Alt Right Playbook“ On various platforms by Innuendo Studios. In the interest of awareness. The brothers Hank and John Green in collaboration with a few people have put together a class of sorts on scientific method, bias and other helpful topics. You can find that by searching Crash Course.

      Edit: I mean ideally stop it before it starts but… that will be helpful. (If you’re on a maga friendly billionaires platform, network or reliant on them to keep you updated, please examine that and find alternatives) Your/our entertainment is also in danger.

      This is what CNN gets for their bothsidesism the past the past decade. Their false equivocations between the fascist party and the Democratic Party lead us here. Without CNN legitimizing Trump for the middle, he couldn’t have become president twice. The media boosted the monster for the ratings but now the monster is killing his creator. I think the media ecosystem is better off without CNN, a center right news channel that pretends to be moderate. CNN has always been pro Trump when it matters (election cycles). F you CNN.

      It’s crazy how they control the news, but it’s clearly propaganda, only the lowest scumbags and idiots from the bottom of the barrel are going to keep sucking up to this crazy cult of bad Republicans and Trump.       PBS still does excellent journalism. You can watch them for free OR you can support them for about $5 a month. CNN has been yellow journalism for decades. I don’t know anyone who really follows the news who would use them as a primary source. They saw what they liked in the FOX model, the Overton window of their demographic simply skewed left.

      It will fail if they try to MAGAfy it. CNN was getting close to failing. Fox’ viewers are incredibly loyal – look at broadcasters like Newsmax – the ratio is Fox with 2.5-3 million daily viewers and Newsmax with under 500k.

      CNN could go to the middle and become an alternative to both Fox and MSNBC -effectively attracting moderates and fiscal conservatives. Even then, however, their marketshare would be puny compared to either.

      MAGA tried to do this with NewsMax and OAN and both are pitiful. This follows a pattern of rightwingers assuming their potential audience is much larger than it is and Fox is much weaker than it is. It’s the “silent majority” mindset, which falls apart when rightwingers learn that silent majority does not mean “bat-guano crazy nuts.”

      People that say they’ll just listen to independent news don’t realize how bad this trend is. Independent news relies heavily on getting accurate facts from established sources.

      That being said, CNN has already made such a rightward shift over the past 10 years so I’m not sure how much this will change it.
