Talarico is the best chance Democrats have of winning a statewide race in Texas. So of course they will choose the other candidate

I wish they weren’t running against each other.

Color me skeptical of this poll. A sample of only 369 voters and a large MOE leaves a lot of room for polling errors, and primary polls are iffy on reliability enough as it is. For example, I really heavily doubt Talarico is only up 6 points among white voters.
That said, it also wouldn’t really surprise me for Democratic primary voters to go the unelectable route. Crockett’s theory of winning the general is to drive up base turnout by being combative in a state where your base is outnumbered by the other side. Talarico’s theory of winning is to talk to voters in a way that doesn’t invoke blind partisanship. Talarico’s plan is the only one that has a chance of winning, but sometimes winning the general isn’t as important to primary voters, unfortunately.

It’s a shitty game for sure, but Talarico has a better chance of winning the state. Americans, definitely Texans, don’t want to vote for a woman, let alone a black woman. They’ve already proven it a few times. You gotta win before you can change the rules of the game. When we win, we have to change a lot of rules.

I’ll vote for her if she’s the nominee, but I plan on voting for Talarico today during Early Voting

I personally voted for Talarico, because as much as I do love Crockett fiery spirit,
I personally believe we need a more unifying and empathetic voice to help heal the nation, and Talarico exactly that,
I do truly believe both are politicians of principle and honor though.

Is this a real poll or one of those Texas ones where they only ask the ‚right‘ people to get the outcome they want?

Fine with jasmine but we need talarico. He is the one that can reach these church base people.

“Better chance of winning” doesn’t equal “moderate”.
If you’ve listened to Talarico speak, I think you’ll see that while he can talk with MAGAs, he does it in a way to Shepard them back into the fold (not a Christian and not for church in politics, but that’s the best analogy I have for how he speaks). He communicates on a level they understand for why progressive policies actually fit their religious beliefs.
He’s dangerous to republicans due to that ability. He’s also progressive and will vote progressively while explaining and getting his electorate on board.
I’m not in Texas but I am a huge fan of his and hope he’s part of turning this shit show around.

she is going to lose the senate if she wins the primary. 100%. I like her but TX is fucking racist and sexist as hell. Did you not learn anything from 2020?

Crockett is awesome but she’ll never come close in the general. James is the smart choice.

Talarico has a chance to appeal to Christians and evangelicals, if not to vote for him then to at least not vote for the Republican candidate.
Crockett is brash and hands out the clapbacks and meme content that Gen Z voters crave.
There’s your difference.

We desperately need rank choice voting.

Crockett will get smoked in the general. Need Talarico his politics are better anyways. More focus on populist economic policies and less on cultural issues ESPECIALLY in Texas
She is great in her district and as an anti Trump voice in the house.. but she really has no chance in the general that’s why the GOP is actively helping and funding her campaign

I love Crockett, but unfortunately she has no chance of winning a general election in Texas. Talarico as a white church going man is a long shot as it is. Ignoring that misogyny and racism are very real and alive in Texas and the USA is ignoring reality.

I could be wrong here, but I feel like Talarico is a total windfall for Democrats in Texas. I don’t give a shit about Jesus or the bible either. I just feel like he is handily the most electable candidate in the General, on paper and everywhere else.

Crockett is doing a great job of helping make sure TX stays in Republican hands.

Talarico will swing centrist votes in a general election, which is REQUIRED to convert this seat. I hope he gets the nomination.

This is why the dems win continue to be accused of being controlled opposition. Talarico is absolutely the clear choice. He can siphon maga and win the election. He’s exactly what the Dems need to take back Texas. And he won’t get the nomination. Why?

Sounds like a conservative ploy to get people to not vote for Talarico.
Often polls will be put out to confuse people who are on the fence…they’ll then switch their vote for the person who isn’t actually ahead, and the election will go to the opposing party.
It’s used a lot in national elections for third party candidates. They’ll also use certain issues to convince people to vote in protest…. Palestine and Kamala Harris are a huge example…handed Donald Trump a metric butt load of votes in the form of people throwing away their votes or outright voting for him.
