I don’t see how superheroes and good fathers can’t fit together like this article says tbh.

“For decades, media has relied on the ‘stoic provider’ or the ‘distant hero’ as the default for adult men,’ per the report. “Our data shows that by primarily showing men in positions of power or physical strength, we ignore the roles that young people value, defined by empathy, patience, and emotional availability.”

I gotta wonder how this survey was conducted, and how the questions were asked. Like where the questions leading, ex „Do you want to see more of fathers showing love to kids, or less of fathers showing love to kids?“ Or was it something more open ended?

I wish there were significant competitors to Hollywood, creating personal and original stories that don’t follow the same old shareholder-demanded narratives that have “mass appeal”. Fuck mass appeal and fuck Hollywood and their franchised drag ons. We need movies about realistic wisdom in modern times

Wasn’t there another survey that said teens don’t watch TV or movies they rather scroll TikTok on YouTube and the like?

I hope this leads to less ‚bumbling idiot‘ male characters in media, getting real tired of that trope…

If you want good masculinity on tv watch Boy Eats World on Netflix.
I’ve never seen a show with such empathy for its male characters and what they’ve been through. They’re not perfect, but they’re trying to do good.
My stepdad was a piece of shit but he loved me and did his best. This show hits that vibe.

There’s 500+ Hollywood films a year, do you know how few are superhero flicks? And yet it’s 90% of the online bitching. There’s every kind of movie you could want already out there, you’d just rather complain than watch them.

To be fair there’s been a billion superheroes movies

There are a couple of directors who are very over superhero movies because its not their style of movie and they are pissed they are making more money than they are audiences are changing hence the movie industry has shifted I think there are more people who are watching super hero movies than boring remakes and abstract films
