This feels like the episode of Barry when his friends rush the airfield and die immediately. Guess we will learn more today or misinformation will be swift and obvious with the clowns running the show.

Cuban coast guard ship approved them and they shot at it, seems it was deserved. But goddamit i can see the US president being stupid enough to say some bs like „that was an innocent american fishing vessel that didnt deserve to be attacked“

FL7726SH Florida registered boat, shot at by the Cuban Coast Guard after Florida vessel opened fire.

    >“As a consequence of the confrontation, as of the time of this report, four aggressors on the foreign vessel were killed and six injured,“ the statement added.

at least 10 people on a speed boat, that seems like a high number and they’re shooting at the coast guard as it nears, wounding the commander, this looks like maybe saboteurs got caught.

  5. Any chance that this boat happened to be called „Maine“?

    Asking for a historian friend.

  6. So Cuba is treating boats breaching their waters better than boats blown up by the US Navy in international waters?

  7. Are doing the whole blowing up a US ship in Cuba to invade again ? Like we didn’t in the Spanish- American war?

**In a separate post, Gimenez added that the Cuban government „must be relegated to the dust bin of history“**

This is exactly what Trump is doing to the US.

Maybe the Cubans were just protecting their country from „narco-terrorists?“ Pretty cut and dried. No investigation or evidence needed.

Im sorry, but we are really going to say this was automatically the government? I am not saying it can’t be…but a speedboat with 4 guys?

Should be able to recover enough easily to rule out ( or rule in) another government. It could easily be a drug dealer/human trafficker/etc and that shouldn’t be that hard to figure it out.

  11. Criminals probably stole the boat in U.S. waters and were taking it back to Cuba, so who cares what nationality there were? They got their just desserts after firing on Cuban authorities.

    Way too much speculation.

The registration is just a number pasted in a boat. Could have been done to make it LOOK American.

OR it could be a boat bought in the USA.

    OR stolen from the USA.

I have seen nothing that proves any of these folks were American.

Take a breath, wait for more info.

  13. It was just reported that it was a flotilla trying to bring families back. Not any vessel associated with USN or USCG.

  14. Immediate_Bowl6409 on

NYT says they were part of a group trying to get relatives out of cuba.

  15. Maybe they were US drug mules. As per trump, attacking and killing smugglers is a patriotic act in international waters.

  16. MercantileReptile on

Investigations? The Cubans really are Amateurs. The pros simply declare them drug smugglers in a drug boat, doing drug things.

So what if they’re Americans? They entered another countries waters and opened fire. FAFO

  18. What’s with this shit. Government over here using their Jump to Conclusions game…

  19. Sounds like some American Narco-terrorists were trying to smuggle drugs into Cuba.

    Really rich coming from republicans:

    >James Uthmeier, Florida’s attorney general, said he would direct local law enforcement to investigate the incident.

    >“The Cuban government cannot be trusted, and we will do everything in our power to hold these communists accountable,“ he said.
