Are they actually going to build some boats instead of just rely on us?
Ireland has a lot of money kicking around so can pay its way.
Then perhaps they also want to deepen ties with the EU rather than damage relations by wanting to veto vote helping it gain power not restrict it.
It’s in everyone’s interest. 75% of Atlantic data/network cables run through Irish waters, these are vital connections between Europe and N.America. Ireland also imports her gas and some electricity through subsea pipelines.
