I have a feeling that the folks who’ve been most agitated about us not having something like a men’s heath strategy (and who would probably benefit from it the most), will also be extremely unhappy with whatever the final product is because of which party initiated the project.

Kudos to the government for following through with this. We’ve seen how toxic the discourse around men’s issues can get elsewhere (the UK, for instance), so it does take some amount of political resolve to push through with policy focused on men and boys, even health-related.
Hopefully this can also assuage some of the more ardent men’s rights folks that the government does pay attention to their concerns, too.

Hopefully they spend a lot of time understanding how to present this material in a way that men will be willing to engage with – likely the greatest challenge.

The majority of the issues are mental health related, and so many of those are wrapped up in the continued ‘boys will be boys’ discourse, not to mention the redpillbros.

I hope to dear God that there is an intellectual health section. Because, given Poilievre’s vote share, up to 45% of men appear to be lacking the capacity for rationale thought.
When I talk to these guys these guys online, any presentation of fact turns them into an angry gorilla in a cage. Perhals we need some kind of affirmative action for men to attend post-secondary, because they are doing lots of „research“ but are still falling behind on critical thinking, math, science and grammar.

I think a part of this needs to address the effect social media is having on the mental health of men (it affects women, too, of course).
