He joked with the men’s team that he’d be forced to invite the women’s team as well, or else he’d be impeached.

The response I’ve seen defending the mens team is „what, you expect them to not laugh when the POTUS makes a joke? You expect them to yell and make a scene? You expect them to kick the director fo the FBI out?“

The men’s hockey team all laughed out loud at Trump’s joke about the women’s hockey team, let’s not leave that crucial part out of the headline.
There was a reason why I was hoping that the Canadians would win and was disappointed when they lost.

Aside from the obvious misogyny of what took place here, have we ever in history seen one gold-winning Olympic champion *laugh* at the mention of another gold-winning Olympic champion from their own country? Like there are extreme levels of unsportsmanlike conduct going on here from the men’s hockey team, on top of the obvious sexism. I’m actually stunned. This is so ugly of them.
The women’s team is better than the men’s team.
There’s a rich history of olympic athletes who’ve shown moral courage over the years. And there’s also some history of olympic athletes who’ve had moments that make decent people shake their heads recalling them years later. Congrats to USA Men’s hockey for joining that latter category by yukking it up with Trump at the expense of their female colleagues.

If the men’s team had any integrity they’d cancel their white house visit and call out the bastard for disrespecting their fellow American Olympic athletes. I’m not surprised the men laughed. But I am disappointed. Rather than stand up for their women counterparts, they laughed along. Fucking assholes. Unfortunately, the NHL is very much MAGA friendly and several of the players on the American side are known Trump supporters.
Real talk, though. The US women’s team is stronger against their competition than the men’s.
