  1. > Delroy Lindo spoke to Vanity Fair at one of the 2026 BAFTA after parties and said that he and “Sinners” co-star Michael B. Jordan “did what we had to do” when the N-word was shouted out as they were presenting the award for best visual effects to “Avatar: Fire and Ash.” Lindo added that he wished “someone from BAFTA spoke to us afterwards.”

  2. Nobody bothered to check in with them?jeez, that is the barest bare minimum. That’s insane.

Giving everyone a heads up could have been a teaching moment. Instead they made it awkward for everyone.

Yeah that’s a major failing they should have been warned before going in stage and someone should have checked on them after it happened.

Maybe don’t go to awards shows when you randomly scream things?
    Just saying

  6. If they had edited it out like everything else then they wouldn’t be getting the press coverage they are now. It would have been just another BAFTAs. It’s a cold and calculated move. They have no interest whatsoever in educating people about the condition, if they had it would have been handled better from before the ceremony had even started, they just wanted the headlines. Very poor from BAFTA.

This keeps getting worse – for a country obsessed with after care and sensitivity they showed their true colors

This outrage is ridiculous.  The man has a medical condition that causes involuntary actions. Its that simple.

Anyone who is outraged over this might as well be freaking out over an involuntary sneeze.

Im convinced that a sad number of people just like beating others up, and theyll use any excuse to do it, even involuntary medical conditions

  9. They should have been warned before the show even started, that this was a possibility.

i don’t get why that man hasn’t apologized. even if its a result of a disability it costs nothing to say ‚i’m sorry, its part of my condition‘

edit: another poster made a pretty good point about the man needing to decompress after having such a mortifying experience. maybe we shouldn’t be too hasty to judge and wait and see what happens in the coming days.

This is not like taking a cranky infant on a flight because you have no other choice they knowingly and willingly put everyone else in a position to be uncomfortable and offended to try to look „inclusive“

At a time when minorities and people with disabilities are already targets they simultaneously made everyone with Tourettes a target and gave everyone who is brown another emotional scar

    Good job BAFTA

  12. The whole Sinners awards cycle has been like a humiliation parade. Casual cruelty and dismissiveness across the board.

I’m unsure what telling everyone would have done. Be prepared for interruptions and slurs, but it’s ok…. He made us a lot of money this year.

Very interesting to see the sea change in commentary on this story compared to what people were posting on it yesterday, lol! Really glad to see more of you realizing what a weird situation Mr. Lindo and Mr. Jordan experienced after Mr. Lindo made this comment.

  15. Tourette man should have worn a face mask out of consideration for others. Why should his needs be elevated above everyone else’s?

  16. BAFTA didn’t “mishandle the situation” in terms of it being some kind of innocent oversight.

Someone saw the chance for some big engagement if the situation went a certain way, and they were right.

It sucks for the actors, the poor disabled guy, everyone.

He may have a disability but that word is part of his vocabulary. Unless it is shown as fact that he has shouted that word to others, there was more going on here than a syndrome.
