Yeah it would. This is absolutely crazy to even be talking about it.

If Ukraine held elections, Russia would 100% bomb one of the biggest polling stations in a city like Kyiv.

The whole external push to hold elections is a cruel joke. I can’t think of any country that ever held proper elections while getting actively invaded, occupied and bombed/shelled daily. How is that even supposed to work?

Small note: Vitali Klitschko has criticised Zelenskyy several times and has accused him of authoritarian tendencies.
Despite this, he doesn’t want elections during war.

I agree.

>Pressed about reported tensions with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Klitschko criticized public infighting and urged politicians to “forget about political games” while the war continues, adding that national unity is essential to resisting Russia’s aggression.
Now *this* is how grown-ups do politics – recognize that there is something greater than oneself. And that’s something valid for both Klitschko and Zelenskyj. They may be completely different politically, but both are aware that everything they love will be lost should Ukraine lose the war.
Honestly the US is lucky that there is no one who can dare attack them. Just imagine, the US being at actual war with China – and Trump would spend the day sitting on his toilet, literally shit-tweeting about Newsom, instead of leading the country.

I am very pro-Ukraine, but as an American I cannot wrap my head around not having elections. We had US elections thru the Civil War, WW1, WW2. We had soldiers on the front casting ballots. It can be done safely.

the people who are pushing for elections in Ukraine are all people living under dictatorships.

Ukraine is doing very well fighting back the cancerous monster of the East called Putin. During time where survival is on a balance, gambling by changing the leader leading the resistance will be the worst thing that can happen to a country.
In a democracy, the dumb, gullible, stupida, and idiotic mob like MAGA can destroy a country thru elections.
They can hold elections after the war if they want. Or they can collectively protest as a mob declaring that they want to dishonour the deaths of of their fathers, husbands, brothers, sons, and geandsons by surrendering to the monster. They do not get to cower behind social media.

Now Pootin has mobilised all his minions in the West to destabilise Ukraine no matter what! There are crowds of MAGA-influencers who are persuading everyone to vote. And Western politicians who are trying to impose an energy blockade on Ukraine (we won’t point the finger at Hungary and Slovakia here)… It’s maximum activation. And I want to tell you that even yesterday, highly respected people like Zaluzhny, posting their manipulative articles, instantly lost a bunch of supporters.
Therefore, for Klitschko, going against public opinion means losing all chances in possible future elections. It is a fact that everyone is preparing for elections because of rumours of a peace agreement in Ukraine, but it is also a fact that this is not the first time and that the same thing happened last year.
I doubt that the war will end. Pootin doesn’t need that!
The WSJ can write 100 articles saying that Zelensky has ordered to fight for another three years, but in Ukraine, this will only mean that the WSJ has lost its credibility.
