    1. Last month, as the first full Moon of the year crossed the night sky, the weather was cloudless in Paris and I had the chance to plan a picture of its path during its rise above the city.

If you’re interested, you can find more of my work on [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/tinmar_g/).

What is a supermoon? A supermoon is a full Moon that occurs when the Moon is at or near its closest point to Earth in its orbit, called perigee.

The day before I also shot the full moon path during sunset above the Eiffel Tower and Sacré-Coeur. This time the Moon rose just at the beginning of the night sky. The weather was good but quite cold, and a mix of frost and snow covered the ground.

This image was taken with a 150–600mm lens at 600mm. The Sacré-Cœur Basilica was 11 km away from my position, which explains why the Moon appears so large in the frame compared to the building.

The final image is a slight crop of the original frame to refine the composition and emphasize the Moon’s diagonal path.

Absolutely beautiful. The details in the moon are an amazing piece of engineering at work.
