Maybe his idea behind letting all of this come out in the news is that we’d collectively start lobbying for him to be allowed stay just so we don’t have to deal with him here?

I’d be first to admit I bought (got fooled) into the prior narrative peddle by the guy; which was probably the intent – get some press and diplomatic clout – but wowwee, he was super naive or just thunderingly ignorant to think Ireland wouldn’t dig deeper into his past here.
