Sadly maps of this type are almost never right. But I am not qualified to confirm or reject this one.

I did a random etymological search on Google of Cameroon, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Morocco, and Botswana, and it seems to be “kinda-sorta” correct. For example, while Morocco does seem to be derived from the Berber word meaning “Country of God,” the official name of Morocco in Arabic means “The Kingdom of Sunset/The West”. So, I think this map is mainly a translation of the names for these countries as they are recognized in the English speaking world rather than their official names. (Just a random guess from a random stranger.)

  3. This is such bullshit lmao.

Southern land of the Afri for South Africa? Who came up with this nonsense?

I distrust such maps so much, they are very sloppy.

I zoomed into Greece for example and they got neither the meaning of the country’s name nor the capital’s name right.

  5. This feels like ai slop, some letters are missing like Iraq saying „God’s gt“

„Southern land of the afri“ seriously seems like forcing it.

I know for a fact that the neither the word „israel“ nor the word „palestine“ mean „foundation of peace“ or whatever that thing is supposed to say. Land of iarael means „land of those who struggle with God“ and palestine is a romanized version of the word philistine

  6. Burnt People… did the Undercooked People come up with that one? Was it a Spotted Orange king perhaps.

  7. This map again.
The literal meaning of Seychelles is not Minister Sechelles. Seychelles was named after him. His name was Jean Moreau de Sechelles because he came from the village of Sechelles in Picardy. The village itself was named after a large field where people used to dry their laundry or in Picard- Sechelles.

The literal name of Seychelles if we were to follow the title of thus map would be ‘the place to dry laundry.

I always wondered what The Ivory Coast 🇨🇮 meant, and why they have a flag that looks like S. Ireland. 🇮🇪

  9. The origin of Senegal is unclear but it does sound like „our boat“ in Wolof, the local language. It’s likely that the first Europeans to arrive encountered fishermen on the coast.
