Well that’s me buying a detector today. It’s been on the list for years. Probably should check my fire alarm is in date too.

If you’re in a council properly I believe it’s a legal requirement that you have one fitted (I assume this is national and not just a regional requirement). If you don’t have one yet then it may be worth contacting your council. They’re not the most expensive but for expert installation and liability it’s best to let them do it if that’s applicable to you.
So tragic. Not something anyone thinks about, you just assume all alarms and the like are up and working properly.

We have the Google combination smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector. **It turns off the boiler if it detects carbon monoxide**. I don’t understand why modern boilers don’t have this facility built in.
