Problem is a global one and no desire at all global level to address it. And, ironically we will be a more desired destination in 20 years.

    2. At this stage I already settle for not having to turn the heating on for 48 hours…….

    3. Build more reservoirs? If there’s land/space it will give some short term and long term jobs. In the future we might be looking at longer dry spells so we can use it. Plus we won’t be far off the water wars so might as well start stockpiling.

The Guardian newspaper had a piece today on how Europe is struggling with flooding resulting from higher levels of moisture not letting the ground retain any water, all exacerbating due to climate change. No Irish media has bothered to mention it. We may get used to it

If only somehow we could have seen this coming! I draw the line at american corporation parkings.

    6. So here’s my plan. Everyone in the country gets like 10 buckets a month. We take them buckets. Stick them out the back garden. And then let them fill with water.

Then, and here’s the best bit. End of the month the bucket truck comes. He takes all the buckets, empties them into the big tank. Gives them back for the next month.

He takes all that water and sells it to some drought ridden place.

      Step 1 buckets

      Step 2 bucket man

      Step 3 profit

I think people need to also realise that Ireland is supposed to be a temperate rainforest. You don’t have a rainforest without…

    8. If clarkson’s farm has taught me anything it’s that this can’t be good for the farmers, regardless of the time of year

Struggling to remember a winter this bad for rain. Wonder what the stats say.

      > Rainfall during February is close to historic levels and some parts of Ireland reported near-record rain for January.

      When was it worse.

    10. Can’t wait for two weeks of summer and to be told we are facing a drought as a result

    11. Couldn’t all that rain be used to cool all the data centres they keep building

    12. There’ll be a hosepipe ban in the summer because it didn’t rain enough!

Don’t worry. The rain will stop just in time for the hose pipe ban to kick in.

    14. Travelling to Dublin yesterday on the train. Some serious flooding in Laois/Kildare across farmland.

Give it two weeks of no rain we will have a hose pipe ban 🤷🏼‍♂️

I just hope Micheal and Simon’s data centre friendies have big reservoir tanks under their evil data plants. the AI we could generate with this rain…

This is the climate change we were warned about. Warmer, **wetter** and windier. The amount of gobshites who have, over the years, rubbed their hands in glee at their ill-conceived expectation that climate change would give us Med type weather despite warnings from climatologists for decades.

    18. Stop paving over your gardens, removing grass and plants, putting down astroturf and creating waterproof driveways and plant a few trees instead, folks.
