    They count even the castle that is tipically called chateux, and that is not a castle, its a shit from ‘700

  5. In Belgium, each person owned their own individual castle during the Middle Ages.

  6. Depends a lot on the country, in Portugal castle means something for defense, with mandatory ramparts.

    In France for instance a castle is usually something that looks more like a palace.

    This map mixes both definitions, so it makes little sense.

    Everyone seems to doubt this map, but as a Belgian they really are everywhere. Random people just casually live in castles sometimes

  9. I think for France they must be including chateaux which are mostly large country houses. Not what English speaking people would think of as a castle..
