    1. Russia is desperate for a peace deal that grabs any Ukrainian territory so they can sell it as a victory to the Russian people.

Fortunately, Ukraine understands that bullies shouldn’t be rewarded. At one point the USA may have understood that too, but obviously that’s no longer the case.

While the war seems to be going in Ukraine’s favor now, part of me is concerned this is like Athens turning down peace with Sparta because they want more.

Zelensky could have accepted peace a few years ago and be in possession of more land than they are today.

Any proposal coming out from US under Trump will be for the benefit of his master, Putin anyway.

„Russia continues to demand that Ukrainian forces withdraw from the region as a precondition for any agreement — a demand that Kyiv has repeatedly rejected.“

Ah yes. Withdraw so we can move in and justify it by saying Ukraine broke the agreement first. Totally don’t see why Ukraine would take issue with that…. /s

Ukraine just reclaimed 200 sq km of stolen territory.

They can make progress on the front lines, and they can make their own decisions.

    6. If anyone wants to know what the proposal was: The US proposed for both sides to withdraw some tens of km from the current frontline to form a demilitarized zone that would then be governed by some sort of joint civilian administration. That would fulfill Putin’s demand for Ukraine to withdraw from the part of Donbas it still holds.

US(pedophile trump): Give Russia all your eastern lands whether Russia has soldiers on it or 100 miles away from it.
      Ukraine: No

    8. It’s difficult to imagine how this war will actually end. Really, a frozen conflict akin to Korea seems to be the most likely outcome.

The only real alternatives are either Russia withdrawing, or Ukraine voting in a national referendum to accept a peace deal that concedes more territory.

The latter however, is a ceasefire for 5 years at most. Putin will not suffer a russian-speaking nation to sucesfully become a functioning democracy

he rejects every proposal but offers nothing viable in return. Geneva collapsed on day two. his own party’s deputy admits current mobilization capacity runs out within a year and a half. two thirds of the population wants a negotiated settlement according to Gallup. at some point „dignity“ stops being a policy and becomes a slogan that other people’s bodies are thrown at

I hope Ukraine reclaims everything and sets up a demilitarised zone on russias side of the border
