This is why this story seems so important
If Boulerice is jumping to provincial politics…this opens up another federal seat, one that by my reckoning the Liberals have a VERY good chance to pick up.
These rules are honestly so dumb if you ask me.
I get the preference for a more diverse candidate roster but to mandate it just comes across hypocritical and counterproductive in these scenarios.
I think a lot of people are talking like the QS national council approving this is a given, but I’m not so sure. It’s composed of the most far left, ideological types from academia, and I don’t know if they’ll take kindly to a more pragmatic candidate in Boulerice.
This especially applies to his „sovereigntist“ beliefs, which clearly do not run all that strong. QS voters aren’t that big on sovereignty either, so he’d be a good fit, but the party’s brain trust are all „option nationale“ types who even greater ideologues than PSPP.
