Was very interesting listening to the At Issue panel last night who said in essence, mcpherson gets the soft left voters, Ashton the working right voters and Lewis is somewhere in the middle.
Althia said that if Lewis wins the leadership, there will be some NDP mps that might sit as independents (along with one possible floor crosser) rather than be in a Lewis tent of the NDP.
He’s crushing it. His campaign has been great. His platform is excellent. His message very consistent and clear. When the candidates first were announced I wasn’t as excited about him but he’s made me a believer
What I’ve heard so far about Avi Lewis is that he’s an effective activist, but he doesn’t strike me as someone who would be a great politician. I haven’t seen an answer from him on what Canada should be doing from a trade and economic growth perspective, only on what it shouldn’t be doing. To give one example… You can call for the winding down of the oil sands, but then tell us what your vision is for those specific workers and industries. Right now it just seems like wishful thinking.
About on par with the yellow journalism one expects from a US Republican-controlled conservative/oil lobby mouthpiece.
Rob is nowhere close to being considered a top-3 contender, and even Heather is a distant second at this point. The article isn’t even internally consistent – claiming in headline Avi was “on the defensive” but then talking about how he “fired back” at Rob over the (frankly garbage) LEAP accusations.
