So, as I usually pay attention to indicators for Southern Brazil, I decided to check the source for that post. It uses [Global Data Lab’s](https://globaldatalab.org/shdi/archive/#:~:text=Subnational%20HDI%20Data%20v9.0.csv) data for subnational regions, I checked the raw data and noticed that for Brazil some data was outdated (population, education, etc), like the **Mean Years of Scholarship**. Since we have the [Brazilian 2022 Census](https://censo2022.ibge.gov.br/panorama/indicadores.html?localidade=41&tema=5), I updated all states to reflect the more updated data. Main changes on the map are two states changed colour to be over 0.800, those were ones right in the cusp the 0.800.
Here’s the data changed by state – also, reminder that unlike the UN formula, it uses the geometric mean of both dimensions of the Education Index. To the right of the arrow is the changed value.

Man, Haiti really stands alone in this hemisphere. It’s so sad that Haitian refugees are demonized for seeking a better life.

Congratulations for joining the very high HDI group, Paraná and Goiás 🙂
