  1. Of course, becUse they are muslims, this won’t be considered as a genocide or ethnic cleansing

Europeans love to do genocide and preach others how they are all about human rights.

Of course this is considered a genocide but the Armenian and assyrian genocides are called propaganda.

  4. And European colonizers were sent away from Algeria, Zimbabwe,Uganda and so on. Why would it not apply to the occupying Turks?

    >**approximately 1.5 million Turks and other Muslims** were forced to leave their homes

It was a military occupation/imperial rule, so for the Turks it was not really their home.

Why then do the Western countries and Greece/Armenia are talking about the genocide of Christians and never mention the fate of the Balkan Muslims after the independence of the Balkan states?

  7. They were massacring and terrorizing Christian population for centuries. It was expected that there will be retaliations.

Germans in east europe were forced to leave their home.

Japanese in Korea were forced to leave their home

Frenches in Africa, Englands in India…

Only Turks in Balkan are mumbling about it, as long as I know.

  9. A lot of them CHOSE to move to the Ottoman Empire after the territories were they lived weere reclaimed by Europeans.

  10. That obviously didn’t happen. Even if it did, but it clearly didn’t, they most likely probably had it coming.

Bu fucking hu. They invaded centuries ago, took children from their famillies, made them soldiers or whatever, impaled people on stakes, made them change religion, sawed great evil all over the Balkans. FUCK THEM !!!

Europeans; „it didn’t happen. It was decolonization. It is Turkish propaganda. What about x“

Also Europeans: „waaaah why are Turks not recognizing the Armenian genocide why are they getting more radicalized waaaah“

This comment section is more effective than the denialist propaganda in Turkey

  13. Imagine someone writing invasion of Greeks, Bulgarians, Serbs and Montenegrins on they own land lol. I guess Ukraine would soon do invasion onto Crimean and 1/3 of Novorusia, yea sure mate, make sense.

  14. Look, by all accounts, this IS ethnic cleansing and mass murder. But unless Turks acknowledge what they did to the Armenia’s, Assyrians, and Greeks, not gonna call it genocide.

Both ways, or no ways. That’s the rule.

Top comments literally support genocide lmao. They are not even denying it they are just supporting it

Unable to fight the Ottomans alone, they formed an alliance and massacred innocent people. However, they later turned against each other and suffered heavy losses.

  17. It’s unfortunate, but it was only a matter of time before it happened.

When an empire takes away your sovereignty, treats you horribly, steals your children to turn them into soldiers and slaves, slaughters and rapes people to keep control and starts holding you back from increasing your standard of living, you get situations like this one.

Many people had a lot of anger from generational trauma, many of them were afraid that if Ottomans remained in the Balkans, they would eventually fall back under their rule.

Of course, there’s also the greed for power and that became apparent after the Ottoman Empire was mostly kicked out, but I feel many Turks and Westerners underestimate how bad the Ottoman Empire was for many of its citizens.

  18. it’s the balkans. what did you expect? 500 years of bulgarians, serbs, greeks, and whoever was not muslim seeing their children taken to become jannisarries. people being forced to convert. bulgarians still remembering what happened at koprivchitsa in 1876 when the ottomans closed people inside churches and burned then setting on fire the churces, impaling people. the ottomans at this point were a dead nation stadning up only because the british feared the russians occupying a port outisde the black sea.

sure the ottomans are the victims here. had the Santo Stefano treaty have been enforced they would still hold Constantinople with less deaths.
