Video games are an amazing tool for certain kinds of learning and skill development. The issue is the amount of time spent playing and the developmental quality of the game. If a game is creative, requires active thinking, and offers at minimum some educational value, I would assume they’re close to the best tools we have to develop certain skills and abilities for children.

But if the games are hollow and junky, and instead just get dopamine flowing for repetitive mindless activity, and the kids are doing it for way too long, it’s not going to be healthy.

Games themselves are full of potential.
