Who said they did? CBS, under constant threat by the Trump Administration to lose their license or get their merger deals squashed, spinelessly cave in to everything because of their only purpose in life: To raise shareholder value.
We know the FCC did not shut it down. The do not have the power. CBS shut themselves down for the FCC.

Paramount wants to buy WB. They do things to impress Trump. It’s likely it was internal not an external shut down.

not sure why she’s commenting on this unless she’s subtly trying to claim she should get fair time too.
the equal time doctrine has barely ever been called on until now, clearly it’s politically motivated, and she should be against that regardless of anything else.

Let’s keep in mind who owns Paramount+ — the son of Oralce’s CEO and dear business associate (friend) of the POTUS.
The FCC will catch fire and flak for censoring CBS, considering the Kimmel fiasco months ago.
So, why not just put in a call to your business connection to tell his son to muzzle-up Colbert? Hey, while you’re at it, just blame it on the FCC „considering“ that type of censoring to begin with.
No harm, no foul, right?

Ok this is the nonsense that I was hoping to avoid in this race. Both these people have been effective in their own ways, but Talarico is uniquely suited to be a statewide candidate who can win Democratic, Independent and some Republican votes. Unfortunately Crockett is not, and a part of that is how she managed her persona.
This is the Democrat on Democrat warfare I don’t want. Republicans are happy to fund Crockett to have her take him down.
Come on Texas Democrats — let’s not pass up a win here!

The FCC doesn’t typically preempt, they punish after the fact.
Though I hadn’t seen many accusations that the FCC shut the interview down until I started seeing articles saying they didn’t.

Colbert never said the FCC did. He explicitly said that while the FCC is considering removing the equal time exception for late night tv his own network is treating it like it’s already been done. So that means that the network shut down the interview, not the FCC.

No one said they did. Colbert was pretty clear about what happened. The FCC floated the idea… and CBS decided to act like they had already enacted it. CBS is being overly reactive to everything to make sure they don’t trigger any response from the current FCC/Administration.

She’s correct. The FCC wasn’t involved. It was CBS’s decision. They didn’t want to risk offending Bari Weiss or Trump.
I don’t doubt that the FCC would have somehow gotten involved if it aired over TV, but the driving force is that CBS wants to buy WB Discovery.

The article implies that Talarico is accusing the FCC and so when news stories do this, it muddles the waters and merits clarification which Crockett is offering.
“Talarico also accused Trump’s FCC of colluding with CBS executives to keep his interview with Colbert off the air during a campaign rally in Austin on Tuesday.
“I think it’s safe to say that their plan backfired,” the Texas state representative said as the YouTube video of his interview with Colbert racked up over 5 million views online. “These are the same people who ran against cancel culture, and now they’re trying to control what we watch, what we say, what we read. And this is the most dangerous kind of cancel culture, the kind that comes from the top.”

Paramount seems more focused on preemptively appeasing Trump than serving its audience (or even Warner’s audience for that matter). Maybeeee that deference buys FCC goodwill for the merger but it keeps draining what little credibility remains with subscriber. Sad state of affairs for both media and politics.
