  1. This time it seems serious as Ethiopia has moved soldiers that were fighting the FANO insurgency and the central government will almost certainly lose ground in
    Amhara.

The president of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed in a recent speech decrying Eritrean support to Ethiopian rebels also stated that Ethiopia needs to secure access to the ocean, specifically the port of Assab. So we might see a major war in the horn of Africa as neighbouring countries, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE get dragged into another conflict. These nations already had a proxy war in Sudan.

Eritrea is one of the most oppressive, authoritarian regimes in the world. They have a literal slave army.

Obviously I hope there is no war, but supporting Ethiopia is the easy choice.

Both countries are not exactly wealthy and spend their limited money to war that bring nothing but misery, destruction, death and further impoverishment.

    Sad.

It’s ok, trump got them to sign a peace deal 10 minutes ago …so that’s 15 wars he has stopped now

Ethiopia needs ocean access with that size of population. Eritrea is an oppressive, dictator. I see no problem with this, let Ethiopia take out the dictator

Eritrea and Ethiopia were on good terms for a little bit, signing a peace deal in the 2010s that got Abiy a nobel prize. They worked together to crush the Tigray a couple years ago.

But after that war they fell apart, old disputes flared up, Ethiopia wants a coastline and the Somalialand deal didn’t work out, and now Eritrea is funding the Amhara War.

This could be worse than your average war if it flares up.
Eritrea has a very large army and also a very weak and poorly equipped one with a leader who would send them in regardless. If Ethiopia seriously went to war with them it would be a slaughter

  8. why won’t Eritrea give them access to the ocean? it’s wild how the countries are divited on a map… almost as if to create conflict
