>The centrepiece of Canada’s new industrial strategy will be the Defence Investment Agency, or DIA, which Carney said will “streamline speed procurement, will cut red tape and it will expand domestic production.”
You heard about CIA, now welcome DIA (Not to be confuse with DEA)

Do we have a “Hire Canadian” plan as well? The hypocrisy with the liberals

Without a clear national defence policy this doesn’t mean anything. What they supposed to be making if the government won’t lay out what it needs (don’t just say „everything, it’s all outdated“, that’s a cop out)? Because as I’ve said before: if we’re just gonna keep being America’s little helper anyway, it’s actually counterproductive to not use their equipment. At the same time, if we’re not, then what exactly is the military for and what does it need to act as such? That needs to be spelled out.

This is nothing but Liberal Party spin on Trump’s pressure for more military spending.

Can’t tell if these are standard everyday political announcements or if these are campaign style pre-election-y type of announcements.

I’d love to buy from Colt Canada/Diemaco for national security purposes, but alas, the once-separatist (still?) province of Quebec said no.

It’s a breath of fresh air seeing a prime minister actually giving the country goals and a specific future to aim towards. I don’t like all of his policies, but I feel like that’s where the whole democracy thing should come in with multiple parties of representation. There are always things to critique and there’s always room for improvement, which in my opinion is where the opposition party plays its part – try to get things less liberal/conservative and move it more towards the middle, which helps all of Canada.
To see Pierre come in with his typical useless comment without any substance is just extremely embarrassing. You’re the leader of a political party that represents nearly half of Canadians and this is all you can say? No offers on what to change, no mention on what specific parts of Carneys defense spending plan can be adjusted or scraped, literally nothing of substance at all besides this useless diarrhea just so he can hear himself talk?
>Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre criticized the plan as a “salad bowl of buzzwords” that won’t deliver, and is calling on Ottawa to instead cut bureaucracy and streamline the government’s purchasing decisions.
I’m very center, politically, but if this is who the conservative party is seriously choosing for their leader then I don’t even think they can be called Canadian conservatives anymore. He’s taking all of his actions straight out of the MAGA playbook of the USA, which in turn makes the current liberal party more like the conservatives of the early 2000s. Both parties have their extremes, but choosing this idiot over Carney shows just how far the conservative party has fallen.
Sad to see the shift towards more extreme left and rights like the USA and I’m seriously just so disheartened to see such a total dumbass being the chosen messiah of the conservative party. Both parties used to at least be willing to work together for the betterment of the country, now we’ve got an entire party dedicated to just shit talking, horrible slogans and complaining about how much they hate Canada.

I agree, however Trudeau’s legacy useless „prevents nothing“ gun ban have heavily destroyed majority of Canadian firearm industry manufacturing infrastructure and productiviety, and now that you look it back, it is clearly a shameless party’s short term interest over national long term interest.
