How do people working in this field not understand how this could be an ethical issue right from the beginning? It might seem like a sympathetic alternative for grieving people but should people be encouraged not to deal with the reality of their loss and, let’s be honest, charged for a service to help them fantasize that their loved one is still alive somewhere in cyberspace? This is sick, unethical thinking.

Arite thinking some more, occams razor and all- whats the most likely way to monetize this, and that leads me to imagine the probably likely scenario is that this offering is mainly to lend justification to AI bots and just generating fake users to drive up ad revenue by increasing the number of users to facebook IG etc, which is already massively propped up by bots they just dont completely acknowledge, because more accounts is more ads sold, and the more people on there the more hook they have on the other real users. (Plus creating more „users“ and data transfer to support the narrative of massive AI uptake…) but it reframes bots as a feature not a bug and lets them artificially inflate user counts without having to actually earn the attraction of new users, which is pretty stagnant at this point. So how do you show „growth“? More users on your platform. How do you maintain users? Sell ads and placement? More users on your platform. But how do you get more users when everyone whod have been interested probably joined a decade ago? When a decent chunk of your user base is actively dying or aging out?Bots, but thats disingenuous and upsets investors. Bots as feature? Now we can exploit everyone by stuffing the key performance indicators with fake accounts. It accelerates the already dead internet, i mean facebook is at least half chatbots arguing with themselves already, now those bots can be assosciated with once real people and it just becomes an insane masturbatory clusterfuck of ai bots arguing with each other and advertisers and influencers who have been forced to rely on IG and facebook for exposure to pay out even more and reach a broader audience, unable to complain that the audience theyre sold is completely strawmen and cardboard cutouts. And we just waste MASSIVE resources on this shell game con job of pretending AI is valuable as is, and exploiting existing advertisers and users.
google uses their AI to harass some youtube users. When the AI recommended videos are blocked by keywords, the AI changes its strategy and shows them with the content in the thumbnail to avoid any keyword blocking.

Funny enough,
I’ve seen and feel people who dropped since 2020 beeing repalced by AI.
Been in some commiuneties, and tons of people went MIA around 2021/2022, then came back almost exactly after a year.
We are talking about a few hundred cases, similar paterns, and a lot of hem lately are pretty much Like & Retweet Bots, don’t interact with people for example on X directly at all, no posts from there own side in over a year.
Among those cases are a bunhc of people I used to know for years, if I do interact with them and talk with them, it feels like most AI bots out there have more Soul in them then those do.
And people wonder why I quit most shit last year, that shit just turned way to freaky and uncanny for Me, and it takes a lot to make Me freak out.
