    Fehler im irischen Pass


    Habe das in einem irischen Pass gefunden. Die Schläge im ersten Takt auf Seite 16 ergeben zusammen 3,5 und nicht 4. Leicht interessant!

      That certainly is mildly interesting. I wonder if the second crotchet should also be dotted.

      Correct it is wrong, not sure how they haven’t corrected it. For context here is the wikipedia sheet music:

      Note that some of the notes are dotted and they don’t slur the note, I guess you could say most would sing it with the slurred first note but as written the song itself doesn’t have that. I think the version they are doing on the passport is maybe in 3/4 rather than 4/4 the whole way.

      It has the slur in there, but also the dotted notes, seems to correct the issue in the passport and is closer to the version in the passport.

      EDIT2 (last one): My idea now is just that is 3/4 but maybe is for an alto? Been years since I studied any music so correct me if I’m wrong.

      Draw in a crotchet rest at the front there. Make it nice and syncopated.

      Passport authorities often intentionally include what may look like artistic mistakes or visual defects, but they are actually sophisticated, hidden security features. Not sure if this is the case here but it’s interesting.
