Whoever thinks there is going to be an „early election“ doesn’t live in reality.
The polls should stop asking „If there was an election today, for whom would you vote?“ and start asking instead „Do you want a federal election today?“
Every politician who consistently talks about an early election is essentially showing that they don’t care about building and strengthening Canada, but only about them being in power.

Nobody wants an early election. But if conservatives jam up committees and the NDP or bloc or conservatives don’t vote for the budget implementation, then… we’re going to have an election.
I frankly would hate to have one and I’d much rather see a handful of floor crossers just bite the bullet and take one for their country. Be the 2026 Scott Brison and change what it means to be a centrist in this country please.

Of note, Elan Harper, Stephen Harper’s sister-in-law, is seeking the nomination in Calgary Confederation.
Currently held by Liberal MP Corey Hogan, it seems the CPC hopes her last name will be enough to win the riding back from a very politically astute incumbent.
For those who might not know, Hogan ran with the slogan “**[Confederation is Worth Fighting For](https://x.com/profbenperrin/status/1912516013780049976?s=46)**”, which is some of the best riding-level comms I’ve ever seen given the name of the riding and the main issue of the last election (51st state).
