Bit of a conspiracy take, and its not strictly about the Ukrainian conflict, but all of this tech stuff being centric to war makes me more and more certain that a nation that cannot compete with the technology or surpass it, will resort to the use of the one bane of all electronics: EMPs.

Think about it. If you are a nation at war, and you cannot beat out the use of technology nor surpass it, and you have nukes, why not? At least excluding all geopolitical factors.

If you were Russia and you didn’t care what China thinks, you didn’t think that the USA would actually risk strikes on Russian equipment, you didn’t think the world would want to risk nuclear fireballs over their capitals…why not form up an armored column with pre-established orders, launch an Iskander with a 40kt warhead to detonate 100km over the area you want to send dark, and then send in all your BMPs before they had a chance to regroup?

Like it or not, I think tactical nuclear warfare will be handedly on the table in the next few decades. If you can’t beat the player, flip the table over.

Of course, things can always be hardened against EMPs, but that comes with its own costs (namely, literal cost and weight)
