Are they gonna force an adbreak like they do with insta?

This is not so about the infinite scrolling as I couldn’t care less, but more about the principle the government has to step in tackling the lack of self-control and discipline. And to what end is it such a thing going to stop? Obesity is increasing as well for example because some can’t stop overeating and eat too much junk.

This is what they should be after, not the social outlet for teens. I really hope something comes out of this.

This is somewhere near the 500th place on the list of pressing issues the EU should be working on.

It’s either going to be useless or it’s going to end up being rolled in to the whole nonsense of internet control that the EU and others are doing at the moment.
people will just switch to some platform with infinite scroll or bypass it somehow, or countries are going to have to be very harsh about allowing different companies from allowing their app to work in their country and that will just end up with more internet censorship.
fed up of people looking at a legitimate issue (social media addiction) and just deciding the government should baby us even more

It’s just meant to make you addicted. However they shouldn’t make it too restrictive. If I want to fry my brain by scrolling endlessly, it’s my right.
Alcohol and cigarette addictions are way more dangerous yet they aren’t banned.

Anyone who supports this are bots created by lobbyists. There’s no way anyone feels comfortable being micromanaged by the government like this.

Televison too, people are staring into it like zombies for whole days and destroy their minds with soap operas and reality shows. At least social media requires some reaction from user.

Why are we even talking about this in the middle of an informational hybrid war that is on course to topple our democracies? Let’s focus on fighting that first and then we can tackle dark UX patterns.
Also, even if we were for a moment to look at breaking up addiction, this is as bad as the cookies way of doing it and it’s only going to make UX worse for the user. Just focus on requiring proper parental controls built in devices and run proper information campaigns to inform parents and users of brain rot risks.
