It’s infuriating how, while Trump is taking a wrecking ball to the world order, which everyone already understands as a *fait accompli*, Democrats still pretend nothing happened and make promises to Europe „just wait until Trump is gone in 3 years, it’ll be like before (I pinky promise bro)“.

3 years? Are they joking? 3 years is a lifetime in geopolitics. Entire wars start and stop during this time. When the keystone of world security says „naaaah I don’t feel like being world leader anymore, ya’ll are on your own“ this statement makes an irreversible impact in days and weeks, not years!

The old reality is not coming back, period. The GOP already recognized it and are offering an (ugly and fascist) alternative path. Problem is, Democrats are not offering anything at all but continue living in delusion. Even the worst offer is better than no offer, because at least you know what to expect (and not expect).

The longer Democrats come to the realization their reality no longer exists, the further the GOP will have a head start in building their own (again, ugly and fascist) alternative, and the harder it will be to dislodge. The Democrats *must* come up with an assertive and constructive path, and pursue it with as much vigor as the GOP pushes their own. Because even the most incompetent sports team wins if the other team doesn’t bother showing up to the field at all.

Donald (TACO) Trump’s idea of a New World Order is a serious threat to global security, stability and wotld peace and within the second year of his second term he has done more damage to America than he has done in the entire four years of his first disasterous term.

Even if trump is removed tomorrow, and a democrat was somehow put in place (impossible), it’s too late. The world cannot trust the USA again. The entire state apparatus can be taken over by one person. The constitution demonstrably failed. Treaties and status quo’s and norms can be dismissed by one man and no real push back from Congress or Supreme Court. You can’t build a long term partnership on that. It’s game over man

  4. Trump wont live forever but the damage he caused will last a really long time

  5. Eu is shifting silent but steady. Partnerships with South America and India. News outlets sending messages of the good things happening in China like planting massive volumes of trees in desserts. Bringing up their own „Starlink“ and massive investments in weaponry. When does the US wake up?

  6. Trump’s world order isn’t new. It’s something Europe has tried out for several centuries and reached it’s peak in the 19th and early 20th century. It’s „good“, old fashioned imperialism.

The big European empires crumbled in the early 20th century and we somewhat learned our lesson that this isn’t working out. Also, its definitely not worth the price of constant wars. Even more so because each big war got deadlier than the one before and even most of the winners were ruined by them.

After World War 2 the general consensus was, that the human civilization wouldn’t survive the next big war and that we have to try out a new world order based on diplomacy, cooperation, treaties and international law. It certainly wasn’t perfect, but much better than the constant wars of the imperialistic world order.

  7. Trump is just a puppet, it’s whoever is behind him who is orchestrating everything

Europe and „adjust fast“ are two concepts that generally don’t mix that well. Just a few days ago European leaders even gave Rubio a standing ovation after his speech at the Munich Security Conference… the reason for the applause? Rubio’s rhethoric wasn’t as hostile as before. Naivety runs deep in Europe and I really hope this changes sooner rather than later. It’s just embarrassing knowing that our political leaders just keeps bowing over to please the world bullies instead of growing a spine.

i find it funny that the „world“ can no longer trust the US.

i highly doubt non-european countries ever trusted the US. i also find it interesting that since the US pointed its guns at europe, NOW their behvior is unacceptable.

so as long as they kept their guns pointed in the other direction, it was ok, huh?

  10. The true nightmare of the US is when the EU has decided to shift silently. It is not about the rise of local far-right parties (probably fueled by other counties??) , but the idea that losing trust since the US-Trump period. It would be regained easily even after Trump.

I don’t know if the headline is deliberately framed to create engagement, but presenting it this way reflects exactly the kind of mindset that risks undermining Europe’s strategic clarity. This is not “Trump’s world order.”

What the Trump administration has demonstrated is a political posture that has weakened the transatlantic relationship by eroding a core asset: trust. That has strategic consequences, and Europe will need to respond accordingly.

But the implication is not that Europe must adjust to a Trump-defined order. Rather, it underscores the necessity of Europe accelerating its own strategic autonomy — politically, economically, and militarily — and reducing structural dependencies where political volatility in Washington can translate into systemic vulnerability.

This is not about adapting to Trump’s world order. It is about recognizing that Europe must become a more self-reliant pole in the international system.

I see a future with mutually beneficial US-Europe relations, but the foundation will be very different from the past decades.
