We kept restrictions on blood donations for far too long once we gained the ability to test for more bloodborne diseases. Until 2022 I wasn’t allowed to donate because they decided during the AIDS crisis that same sex relations were disqualifying. Somehow as a lesbian in a monogamous relationship for years I was deemed too high a threat to donate.
