    1. Sickening.

Congratulations to Edwin, deserved his first cap on his career performances so far. I look forward to enjoying many many more appearances.

    2. Par for the course with Twitter. It’s not only the arsehole of the Internet, but of society as a whole.

All these „Real Irish Patriots“ shitting on a man who has actually represented the country in a major sport, playing an important part in getting a win on debut might I add. He shored up a forward pack that was getting killed all day and it was crucial to us hanging on.

Would be keen to hear what any of those tramps abusing Ed have ever done for Ireland other than embarrass it.

He got a big ovation when he came on. Was the abuse from the crowd or online?

    4. Racists doing racism on famous racist website. It’s like publishing the minutes of a Ku Klux Klan AGM. This shit shouldn’t even be published.

Wow that’s weird. He’s just a black guy representing this country the best he can. Imagine going home and defending that behaviour. He has probably done more the country and his background community more service.

    6. Sad, lovely family, have worked with his brother and parents at different times.

He’s more Irish than half of those far right lads seeing as theyre led by the likes of Tommy Robinson

    8. Did he at least take the bigots attention away from the female ref or did she get hated on too?

Are we surprised by these idiots online anymore. Wonder if they would say any of this to his face

    10. I don’t believe the abuse is real. Some studies estimatedTwitter / X has up to 80% bot accounts. I have no doubt there is a small minority of small minded people that might have racist opinions but journalist should be working under the assumption that this type of content is fake unless verified.

I’m a bit of a traditionalist but I try not to judge when players don’t sing the anthem.

That said, I was rather satisfied watching Edwin belt it out.

Cobh woman here, Ed, delete and dismiss it. To hell with them. I’ll bet they wouldn’t stand in the Pirates and say that.

    13. That’s gas. This poor guy, born in Cork, is pilloried as not really Irish, but James Lowe and Jamie Gibson-Park get a free pass. I wonder what they have in common that Edwin lacks? Hmm. What could it be? I’m sure it’ll come to me.

      So gross.
People who can’t see past their own bitterness. Congratulations to Edwin and hopefully will be an inspiration to other young Irish who have immigrant parents to reach high.

My 15 year old rugby-mad son looks up to all the Irish players, Bundee and Caelan being his favourites. I really hope the likes of Edwin and the rest of the team realise it’s the opinions of my son and people like him that really matter, not racists online.

Sadly all the linked article an OPs post is doing spreading this shit further.

I’m not on Twitter so was oblivious to the spam of racist crap, until this post.

So we are simply amplifying the hate here.

Leave Twitter, lobby IRFU and the provinces to do so too.

Appeal to media organizations like Off the Ball etc to leave too.

We are enabling this spread of hate if we don’t act.

If anyone knows if they have the balls to say it to his face let me know, popcorn will be warm and deck chairs provided

Who cares about Twitter anymore? It’s just reduced to the most negative aspects of mankind these days

    19. No_Organization985 on

X / Twitter whatever is a cesspool. An echo chamber of bots and the dregs of humanity. They should nuke that site from orbit

    20. NorthKoreanMissile7 on

I counted the comments, more were being racist than all non racist ones combined, it’s really a cesspit of a platform. I also think the racism issue has gotten worse with social media. Instead of the minority of idiots it’s a case of seeing the same old braindead „illegal Africans“ line said under every single post about a black person.

    21. curious_george1978 on

I honestly don’t know why the IRFU and other organisations still post on X. It’s a cesspit or racists, bigots and bots. Then you have the clickbait sites like rugbylad and the like acting like they give a fuck and reposting it for more outrage and engagement. Fuck social media.

Delighted for Edogbo making his debut. It’s a great story and given what he’s been through with injuries, well deserved.
