Every country, which values the freedom of its people and their wellbeing, repeatedly endangered by the likes of ruSSia and US, should have its own nuclear deterrent or cooperate with another country to have a common nuclear deterrent.

Bravo, captain Obvious. Anything meaningful behind those words or does he only say blatantly stupid stuff?

Maybe we should speed up and prioritise our civilian nuclear technology first instead of thinking about weapons.

Because the only nuclear defences we can get right now is if Americans will build a nuclear base here and station their weapons and we will get even more of a puppet to them.

Such a meaningless statement for the electorate. It’s like saying „Poland should begin work on the USS Enterprise“, we don’t have the means to do it.

    5. Even though he’s right, I’m guessing it’s being said so in a month he may ask the gov why don’t we have the nukes yet. I’m guessing it’ll end up being used for populist bullshit. Sadly, it’s how it works nowadays.

and who is going to pay for this if we get PiS next year and they will resume their stealing of everything they can? I guess he wanted to promis something big that he knew no one will promise and it will never happen so why not promise

    7. Thank you, Captain Obvious. But how exactly would you arrange that? We’re talking about billions spent on extremely hard science and testing, at a time when science funding is being cut at every possible corner.

On top of that, even agreeing to move forward with such research would require an exceptionally strong political position. Neither the US nor Russia would allow some random EU country to acquire a nuclear arsenal without any credible ability to stabilize or control it.

Saying things is always easy-but how would you actually achieve this in practice? The only realistic path I can imagine is something along the lines of what Macron has proposed: treating nuclear capabilities as an EU-level resource, given that a few EU countries already possess them.

In the same fashion I could say: let’s cure cancer, let’s put a man on Mars. Cool stuff Mr President. Populism at its finest

„Trzeba działaś w tym kierunku, aby rozpocząć prace“

It’s hard to get a more meaningless statement
