Have you any idea what part of the country this was taken? Thanks for sharing

    2. This is what people picture when they no doubt talk about peat cutting and its ban recently in Ireland.

As someone who’s parents still burn turf and has rared turf since they were young. This is absolutely not what industrial peat harvesting looks like in the Midlands today

Lovely photo. The donkey and the wee guy holding them seem to get their highlights done in the same place 😉

Is this AI? What’s going on with the blonde boy’s hand? All the hands look a bit off

Greens need to piss off with their anti-turf cutting agenda for the few communities who still carry on this tradition on their own land and are more than often struggling financially.

Compared to the amount of coal that’s burnt, this is miniscule.
Large industrial scale burning of peat in power plants like Bord na Móna is a completely different story.

In the 90s my parents used our donkey and cart to bring the turf back from the bog. All of the turf was hand cut by my dad and us kids would do the turning and footing. Fun times.

There is a very similar photo of me and my family from about 2 years ago just like this for all those saying no-one cuts it like this anymore. Loads do, you just don’t know them as city-slickers live in their own bubble.
