    🙋‍♂️
I was planning on road tripping to the US for this very reason last summer.
It was an easy decision to choose another destination.

  2. For the article:

According to Intrepid Travel, a travel agency headquartered in Australia, bookings for U.S. national park tours are down 42%.

Compared to 2025, Canadian bookings have plunged 93%, while the U.K. and Australia have also reported significant 2026 declines.

Some U.K. travel agencies, such as Cazenove+Loyd, are now cancelling plans for tailor-made itineraries centered on U.S. national parks.

[Forbes reports](https://www.forbes.com/sites/suzannerowankelleher/2026/02/12/canadian-visits-fall-january-trump-slump/?utm_source=syndication) that last year the Canadian boycott cost the American economy $4.5 billion, affecting all sectors or tourism, including national parks.

  3. Australian, UK and Canadian travellers aren’t boycotting the US just because it now costs hundreds of dollars more to visit a national park…

  4. It’s remarkable to me how a lot of Americans seem to believe their country is unique in having national parks, when most countries around the world have their own incredible parks.

    I’m not traveling to America.

If that’s interpreted as boycotting parks, that’s fine. But the scope of not traveling to America encompasses every aspect of America. Not just parks.

NGL, pretty drunk right now. But I’m boycotting the US products and stuff as a whole; not the national parks exclusively. The national parks were **the** highlights of my trip to the US as a kid back around 2011. And I’m saying that as someone who doesn’t consider themselves outdoorsy.

I’m just glad I got to see Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon before the rabid tangerine got back in.

My parents were going to the USA this year but cancelled. Said they didn’t want to get shot in the head by ice and then called terrorists or whatever justification they would make up.

    Clickbait article.

People not willingly going is a lot different than an official boycott

Air Transat amd WestJet have canceled USA routes over lack of demand.

  11. Seeing the giant redwoods is on my bucket list, but I refuse to visit during this administration.

  12. As a Brit and soon Aussie I like the idea of US holidays, but not for a bother couple of years, atleast.

  13. I live between Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks. Even though this is not tourist season, we are still seeing a lot of foreign tourists.

Reservations are probably going to still be required to visit Glacier Park this year. (I was hoping things would slow down so locals could more easily visit.)

I’m in the UK. Over the years I’ve always wanted to visit the US, do some travelling and see some of the wonderful sights that you have across there.
The reason I wouldn’t go there currently has nothing to do with any financial implications. I simply would not feel SAFE traveling in the US giving the current circumstances and the leadership that is in place. I hope this changes in the near future for everyone’s sake.

  15. Well they cut the staffing anyway. This will make it easier to mine coal and Harvest timber.

  16. The US did this by design so they can point to low tourism numbers and low profits when they decide to privatize them

  17. Unpopular opinion here but the parks could probably use a break. I live in the US and hardly go to some of the more popular national parks because there are just too many people. This will suck for the small towns and businesses if US interest doesnt increase. People are broke though so likely not to happen.

  18. We enjoyed our RV trip in ’24 to several red states. Good friendly people. But we cancelled a planned 2025 trip to Yellowstone. We won’t spend a dime or cross that border again until things change. Our country is huge and beautiful, and we will spend our money here.

  19. National parks are not racist pedophiles. The land that those funds protects is not racist pedophiles. Did these people cancel their Amazon, Facebook, netflix, all their USA based  subscriptions??? Our parks are getting gutted in funding and this only hurts the good guys who are in there trying to fight back. Who will protect the land? That’s actually one form of tourism that can contribute to helping the good guys beat this clown of an administration.

  20. Yea, it’s not the National Parks, they are beautiful.

It’s the administration and way too many of its people that we don’t want to be around.

trump’s handlers will use this as a reason to privatize the parks and sell the property to the oligarch class.

  22. In principle, I stand by these countries. However, as a selfish American, I’m happy so I don’t have to go to crowded parks. Especially Zion!

  23. America is a beautiful country and I can’t wait to be back once they find themselves. Until then, I’ll stay in Canada or go to Europe.
