This is rather absurd, nothing the US is doing domestically is all that different from other unsavoury partners like China or India, and pales in comparison to outright evil countries like Saudi Arabia or the gulf states. I feel there’s a pretty big disconnect between people who heavily consume American news and are outraged about whatever domestic american issue of the day which is irrelevant to Canada, and people who are upset at America because of actual tangible threats that they’re making against Canada and other allies.
I think we can all agree that we need *some* kind of immigration enforcement. This is probably not the correct way, but forced deportations desperately need to occur and Canada doesn’t really have a way to enforce that.
Good, the liberals should be doing nothing. If Donald the diddler is going to spend all this money on ICE it would be a great thing for Canadian companies to get a slice of that.
This is one of those things where it sounds great, but it’s just a nightmare to walk into. We’d essentially be sanctioning the US to prevent sales of arms and other stuff to them. It will not go well. It’s super easy to sit on the sidelines and say stuff like this but it’s just unrealistic unless you want to commit economic suicide to make a point. They’d absolutely retaliate viciously because their president is unhinged.
If the US wants to oppress their own citizens, their citizens need to figure it out. We trade with worse.
It’s not their job. It’s perfectly legal. Don’t like it? Then don’t do business with those companies yourself then.
This is basically an NDP version of what is going on with the Conservative party — there are a bunch of people at the extremes of both parties who are incredibly worked up over American politics, and want to import those movements into Canada. So we get copy-cat MAGA politics on the right and copy-cat anti-MAGA politics on the left.
I think we would all be better off focusing on Canadian problems, rather than trying to import conflict from the U.S.

Yes, Canadians care more about what is happening in the nation beside us that shares a huge border, language, culture, and a long history. Shocker!
It was also bad to do deals with other evil countries. Many of us were mad about that too.
We are going to sleepwalk into some pretty heinous stuff if we don’t try to create some moral red lines. I pay taxes just like y’all and so I get a say in what my country does too.
