  1. What the hell is this? I’m worth only one shinkansen ticket? Not even a return ticket?

Edit: **Initially, the tickets will be available to travelers from Korea, Taiwan, China, and Hong Kong** (the four countries/territories Kagoshima Airport either does or recently had direct flights to/from), **with a planned expansion to include high-potential countries such as the U.S., Thailand, and others**. The cost of the tickets will be completely subsidized by the Kyushu prefectural government.

What is with Japan and being so tsundere? I thought they didn’t WANT Chinese and other East Asian tourists?

The massive increase to the cost of the JR Rail Pass really hurt regional tourism. I miss getting one of those 7 or 14-day unlimited passes and going off on day trips to underrated places.

The Shinkansen tickets cost an absolute fortune as a resident. Spending two days pay is not uncommon for short journeys. However a weeks pay spent on a fare isn’t unusual either.

So that’s why JR have raised their prices recently for regular fairs. They’re exploiting Japanese people to pay for tourists to use trains for free.

Oh my, no wonder there’s so much anger around tourists.
