    1. Turkey is almost European, so it’s what everyone could expect – low fertility. Countries like UAE have very high living standards so low fertility is expected too. Iran may look strange but it’s actually quite developed (in local context) country even if it’s a dictatorship under sanctions.

According to Wikipedia (vital statistics of Lebanon), it is much lower than that. It’s in fact below replacement level.

This is very much so in line with the rest of the world.

Women in MENA countries have increased access to education, labour market and contraceptives.

As with everywhere else in the world, women’s autonomy over their financial and reproductive rights have resulted in lower fertility rates.

Yemen continues to be an outlier because it lags behind the rest of the MENA counties in terms of metrics like female education attainment.

Is this about native population or immigrants ? UAE has almost 90 % immigrants as population.

Looks like Iraq is dropping significantly. That’s good

We’re currently at 45m people according to the 2024 census which is a lot (although it included over a million immigrants (mostly Syrians) and expats as-well).

We’re gonna see the whole world decline below the replacement rate before Israel does
