    They only have 80 employees? I would have thought they have way more than that, or are they not counting the couriers in that figure?

  2. Someone needs to make a more ethical version of these apps.

    The fundamental value they add for the consumer is the convenience of offering a unified directory, menus and ordering system.

    A more ethical app could allow restaurants to use their own delivery couriers, charge a flat service charge per order (a few euros) to cover the costs of running the app and handling payments, and that’s it. It might not make the devs billionaires, but I believe it would be a sustainable business.

    No exclusivity, no „independent contractor“ couriers, no predatory pricing and no skimming off the top. Just an open marketplace for restaurants to offer delivery at the prices that make sense for them.
