As a EU citizen I can tell you my take away from the past few years. US failed to deliver on security guarantees to Ukraine and scared of Putin decided to bitch out giving all kinds of manufactured issues, both real and otherwise. The naivete of current US population will now allow the creation of a superstate which will replace US as the leader of the world, peacefully, and naturally, while US disgraced fades into obscurity just like the soviet union has. World orders change often, research it. Find Colonel McGregor and listen to him. That is the only guy telling you the truth about the obsolete ways US uses to run things at direct orders of the state of Israel.
The only immediate threat to Europe is Russia, but Russia is extremely weak. We would need an integrated European army against them, but we don’t need a bigger military.
The secondary threat to Europe is the USA under it’s current psychopathic and insane leadership, but building up a military to fight the USA is unrealistic and it is more reasonable to wait for them to change course or collapse on their own.

The Americans having been pushing back any European efforts of increasing its Defence, precisely so that we would be dependent on the Americans so they could have incredible soft power. My favourite part of all of this is that the US has a multi trillion dollar defence industry that completely relies on European and domestic purchases alongside the US military complex mindset that allows them to spend just under 15% of their annual budget on defence.
Without the Europeans purchases and status of the US acting as the ‘world police’ to justify their military spending, they are going to tank their own economy.
It’s pure stupidity for them to believe in isolationism.
The sooner Europe ramps up our own defence industry and unifies it all, the better. We really need to push for a singular European military to become the global leading power and replace the states before China steps in.
USA haven’t been defending Europe since the 90’s where they made us to sign [this treaty](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_on_Conventional_Armed_Forces_in_Europe) with Russia (treaty they of course violated), tore down [the depot system critical to be able to deploy forces in Europe ](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/POMCUS)and pulled all the combat units back to the CONUS, if you don’t believe it just compare [how many combat units were during the cold war](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_Army_Group_(1989)_order_of_battle) and what they have [today, ](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_European_Command)unless you plan to defend Europe with a tripwire stryker brigade, analysts, and support personnel, they should quit the „we are paying for your defense!!“ whining.
While we are at it, let’s talk about the only thing they want for us, the bases, yes, all the bases that in the last 30 years they have been using to project force into Middle East and Africa to stir shit that we can talk about if they made us safe, but sure as hell left a big mess we had to clean in refugee crises and retaliatory terrorist attacks in European soil. These bases, that no longer add to our defense, we pay half of their costs as part of the defense treaties we signed, so for now is pay full price or get out, if you want to be able to send stuff to Israel or Saudi Arabia or Irak in 24 hours don’t ask us to subsidize half of the cost like we have been doing for 30 years. It’s billions of dollars we can use for our needs.
If the US expects Europe to defend itself more independently, what does that realistically look like? Larger standing armies? More drones? A unified EU defense force?
Does the US not understand they gained soft power, money to their mic and ability to project power over the world through their engagement with Europe?
So all these Military bases around Europe with Americans.. they wanna lose those or?

Colby is a strange guy. For obvious reasons not exactly trustworthy, as seen by his influence working directly against Ukraine. Or any other US assistance on the continent for that matter.
But he is not stupid either, like his Boss (Kegbreath) and other Trump officials.
Guy seems to earnestly believe the US needs to go all in against Chinese regional control, even at the cost of outright giving up influence elsewhere.
Even people like Rutte can’t really play off Colby as a fluke or momentary character in the administration. As Colby is quoted in the Article:

Not really a short term thing Europe can sit out, no matter how much some politicians would like to. The U.S. as a defence guarantor is gone for good.
This would have been fine if it wasnt because the US is waging war against EU. The new US national security strategy calls for destroying the EU and weaken Europe by funding anti-democratic, right-wing facists in Europe.
So this “Europe needs to defend itself” is a lie. USA does not want Europe to defend itself, USA explicitly wants to destroy Europe. Everytime EU stands up for itself, USA gets angry and now recently already released a report saying censorship is a big peoblem in EU. Thats all BS since in USA under Trump, civil liberties, media, journalists, evidence, science, all are being crushed and censored.
What USA wants is regime changes throughout Europe. They want pro-Putin and pro-MAGA ouppets like Orban installed in every European nation and they have already begun funding them.
