Wtf…
Wait is this one of those learing center ?
A four month old ffs…
I know yahoo news comments are terrible, but reading how many of them blamed the mother for going back to work and leaving her baby at the daycare was genuinely shocking. What a bunch of miserable people..
The Yahoo comments section was actually arguing that the government should provide enough support so that mothers can look after their newborns 24/7 for free during those first few months. They were simply pointing out the inherent risks of putting a 4-month-old in daycare and the structural risk management issues of a system where a single caregiver is responsible for multiple infants.
Every time I see news about this kind of accident, I’m reminded of how incredibly demanding the work of daycare and nursing home staff really is.
When I read about cases where infants and elderly residents alike choke to death on food, or where a person with dementia becomes agitated, gets injured, and the facility is then sued in civil court, I can’t help but feel sympathy for the staff involved.
With only a small number of workers, it’s simply impossible to keep constant watch over every infant and every elderly resident without looking away for even a second, and to respond perfectly to every situation. Expecting that level of flawless, uninterrupted supervision just isn’t realistic.
