As if we don’t know the answer?

Trump would have to be held accountable. The Republican Congressional majority works only to enable him.

How is there going to be a „reckoning“ when the guy at the very top of the heap of abusers is also responsible for launching some sort of accountability?

  2. If there had been a major cover-up of primarily Democratic officials operating a massive child-prostitution ring you’d have seen people getting dragged into the streets. Those responsible would have face waves of mob justice by a united front of common citizens both liberal and conservative.

What’s happing right now is an utter disgrace.

Billionaires have destroyed any shred of responsibility to the public in our government.

It’s no longer a constitutional republic. It’s an oligarchy.

  4. It is far too simplistic to relate the entire Epstein scandal solely to Trump and the Republicans. The first charges against Epstein for sexual contact with minors were brought as early as 1996. Bill Clinton was in his second term at the time and may have known about it due to Epstein’s connections to various intelligence agencies.

None of the subsequent presidents, whether Democrat or Republican, ever did anything about it. It was only in 2022, under Joe Biden, that the only conviction (Ghislaine Maxwell) was handed down for the criminal acts in which approximately 1,000 women and girls were threatened, blackmailed, coerced, and raped. This means that for three decades, no action was taken against sex offenders in America because the men involved were rich and powerful.

Are these remnants of the era of slavery, when rich landowners kept female slaves for sexual services and this was considered acceptable by society at the time?

The incidents surrounding Epstein and the reactions to them reveal clear differences between Europe and America. However, I must say that there are also many scandals in Europe and that Europeans are not necessarily better people. But apparently, sensitivity is greater in Europe when it comes to sexual offenses on such a large scale.

It is also surprising that in a country like America, where many citizens are particularly religious, or at least pretend to be, sexual crimes such as those committed by the men around Epstein do not provoke any particular reaction. Apparently, all the evangelicals have no problem with this as long as it concerns men who are useful to their organizations.

One could therefore say that this is a fundamental problem of a thoroughly hypocritical America. Unfortunately, even Americans whose morals are in order are given the same negative image as the people responsible for the scandal.

The fact that articles like this are still written make me doubt that Americans can reverse the damage that has been done

  6. In addition to the ways it would hurt the powerful, we have to acknowledge how much a true reckoning would parasocially hurt millions of Americans for whom Trump, thanks to his racism and sexism, is a lord and savior — and not just abstractly but in a deep, emotional way. I’m not saying they shouldn’t be hurt thusly, because obviously they should, I’m saying it’s part of what’s holding up justice.

  7. The US is rapidly losing the moral authority to be the ‚leader of the free world‘. Full stop.

Simple. ~50% of this country does what the „news“ tells them too. I just opened Fox News <shudders> after the Bondi debacle. Not a single headline mentioning Bondi or Epstein. We’ve got „voting security“, trans people gonna kill you, immigrants gonna kill you, Joe Rogan, Biden’t popularity is in decline, homeless gonna kill you.

OK, well, at least CNN is covering it(yeah, I know they’re MAGA now, but majority of people don’t). <opens CNN> Nope. Nancy Guthrie. Bunch of random topics that I’m not sure why they’re on the front page. OH! There it is, an Epstein headline: Epstein files reveal new depths of his ties to former **Obama White House** counsel Kathy Ruemmler (I’m not saying Dem Presidents shouldn’t be eviscerated for what must be knowingly covering this up, but you gotta start with Trump).

More than half this country literally doesn’t even know the Epstein files exist. Straight up yelling comments from senior Congress members about a cover up bigger than Watergate with a world wide sex trafficking ring spanning decades. Majority of major News outlets won’t even report on it.

well, it seems at keast like 40% of the population is a pedo enabler. no moral high ground there.

  10. Because the agencies and checks that would enforce accountability are controlled by the people in the files.

Child sex trafficking is a massive growth market. They are just trying to help the economy

  12. b1llypilgrim on

Because the Trump administration is the culmination of the project Epstein’s criminal organization was created for.

  13. Because the United States no longer has a functioning legal system.

If we don’t win in November 2026, it will be our last election.

  14. Because Americans are cowards and don’t know how to hold their powerful accountable. What’s the other answer here?

  15. Republicans control every level of government and are all pedophiles or are protecting pedophiles, everyone that votes for them or supports them are backing a powerful group of pedophiles.

  16. Understanding_Silver on

Country founded on human trafficking, slavery, rape, and genocide does nothing to stop leadership running human trafficking, slavery, rape, & genocide. What a surprise.

  17. Midibow_Dahonar on

Pedophiles protecting pedophiles! It’s disgusting and the people allowing it are total peices of shit.

NEVER let them tell you they care or want to protect children.

  18. No-Beach-7923 on

Because the cult is protecting those involved and are still denying trumps cover up

  19. Because the government and agencies across the country are guilty. Effectively, there’d be nothing left if they were held to accountability and people would be simply mindfucked seeing how the wool was pulled over their willfully ignorant eyes

  20. Because the Congress is all Trump people. Anyone with any conscious left after his first term and it’s all sycophants left. They control the House, the Senate and the SCOTUS and if there is one thing Republicans have been united on for years it’s that they never hold themselves accountable

The media has also been complicit in a lot of it by sanewashing everything he does and giving validity to his insane accusations and comments. This takes a lot of pressure off him. A functioning media is important for properly holding politicians accountable and we are far from that right now.

  21. Evangelical Christians think a magical end of world and afterlife event is coming. Evangelical Christians make this possible.

The start of Revelation is an admonishment of the early churches, criticising each one about how they’ve lost their way.

The evil irony of it. A billionaire pedo ring and a genocide, covered up by supposed Christians.

  22. One party is full of PDFs, and the other, save for a few exceptions, are complicit.

Because 10 years ago we voted for a guy who said he likes to grab women by the pussy. Why would anyone think there’d be a reckoning?

  24. People are not informed, they’re afraid of being informed, they deny being informed, when they get informed they don’t believe it, and we have a system of corrupt capricious power protecting those implicated to the greatest extent feasible.
