    1. There are a lot of interesting places. What are you after?

      Culture? Check theathers in Ostrava
Mining and industiral heritage? Dolni vitkovice complex
Nature? Lysa hora and similiar tourist routes

The old steel mill in ostrava is worth seeing. Also, Beskydy are beautiful mountains.

Haha interestingly I saw a lot of Poles in Ostrava’s IKEA last Sunday.

    4. Olomouc being so close might be worth a visit even more so if you are interested in Catholicism since there are some of the historicaly most important places in Moravia and even Czech Republic.

Go to Ostravice train station and from there try nature hiking in any direction if its your type of thing.

You just founded the new highest-placed city in the Czech Republic.

    7. Find out what interests you, whether it’s nature, folklore or technology.

If you’re into technology, I highly recommend Dolní Vítkovice in Ostrava (a huge exhibition of technology, check out the website), a tour of the Michal mine (you’ll walk the entire way the miners used to work, everything is accessible and beautiful to see, you can touch a lot of things) – don’t miss the mining pub right next to the mine for a beer and maybe baked sunkofleky, the Landek mining museum where there is an exhibition of mining machines, a trip to the training cave.

There is also beautiful nature on the Landek hill, I recommend miniburgers at Bistro Open.

If you’re into firefighter, the fire department museum in Ostrava is interesting and surprisingly extensive.

If you’re into animals, the Ostrava ZOO is great, and there are also nice walks in the botanical garden.

If you’re into nature and hiking, the Beskydy Mountains are great, but I’ll only write about it if you ask me to.

    8. Honestly, I have one very special recommendation. Find Klokočov on the map. It can seem like just a small train station… but funny thing, it IS just a small train station. But definitely worth visiting.

You can visit Bohumín, Havířov, Třinec, Frýdek-Místek and other places that you highlight the area, according to the picture.

Ignore all the comments saying „no“. I come from here, this place is a shithole, but theres definitely a lot nice places to visit nonetheless

Dont expect anything super historic (in this case any medieval history), we arent too rich in that.

Frenštát and Rožnov have really nice skanzen and mountains worth visiting. Probably the most „historic“ of the places here. Radhošť is worth hiking.

Right above them is Kopřivnice. City looks like shit but it has a really nice automobile museum. One is near the main railway station, the one is in the city center. Its home to one of Czechia’s 2 automobile brands.

Nový Jičín is close too. Its a nice historic city with nice cafés and restaurants. Theres nothing really interesting there though from what i know (apart from a hat museum).

Štramberk is beautiful. A small town amidst the mountains. Worth visiting.

Hukvaldy has a really nice castle.

Studénka has a train museum (because its a railway hub).

Frýdlant n. O. has nice mountains, including Lysá Hora – the tallest mountain of that region.

Frýdek-Místek has a McDonalds, an aquapark and a nice shopping mall. Thats about it. I think there is a meteorite museum? That was pretty interesting.

Havířov has the wisest homeless people. Just dont go to Jitřenka, that wisdom turns to violence there.

Orlová and Karviná are cities worth AVOIDING AT ALL COSTS.

Třinec has a nice steelworks museum. Other than that, there is nothing to do.

      Bohumín has trains. Again.

Thats all the cities apart from Ostrava briefly summarised.
