Yup and it’s about to happen again. This time is a school shooting so expect it to hit way harder.

The scars with the last major school shooting and I can’t see any reason why this won’t have a similar affect.

I won’t be surprised if there is a grass roots movement to ban all guns or for major restrictions depending on the fire arm used in the killings.

not a gun owner and have no opinion on the current buyback program but the problem isn’t just guns in Canada. BC is reeling from the tragedy in Tumbler Ridge but it hasn’t even been a year since the Lapu Lapu Festival attack in Vancouver where a man suffering from mental health issues ran down scores of people. last week a man killed himself and his family. in all of these cases, the perpetuators had been in and out of the health system. as the population grows and stresses increase, there has to be a better way to help individuals and to protect society. royal commissions, studies aren’t enough. these problems aren’t new. action is needed.

    3. Damn I was hoping we’d make it at least a couple days before the politics started in on this. The victims haven’t even been buried yet but I think we all knew this is going to be used in favour of the buyback and gun control. Anything to avoid investing in the mental and emotional health of our society.

    4. Never let a tragedy go to waste is this governments moto.. Too bad NONE of the changes would have done anything about the mass shootings as they weren’t using the weapons that are being targeted by the changes. IE. PAL/RPAL holders. One of the reasons I am unhappy with the liberal government. They claim evidence based rules, but then ignore them fully, and rely on peoples‘ insecurity and ignorance to push things they need to stay in power.

Minimum word counts are quite annoying when it doesn’t necessarily mean the comments are any better. Sometimes, things can be said in a few words.

You guys do the most incredible mental gymnastics. Calls to lock up offenders for longer, reduce/eliminate bail options, and generally be harsh on crime. Yet you want A TOOL DESIGNED TO KILL to flow freely through the streets. Claiming calls for motor vehicles are missing is called false equivalency – that argument has no merit. Gun buybacks are not making guns illegal and our current system still has gaps that allowed this to happen since, as the article says, authorities had to visit the house already on gun-control related issues.

      The hypocrisy is real.
