**Common anti-seizure drug prevents Alzheimer’s plaques from forming**
**Scientists examined engineered mouse models, human neurons and brains of Down syndrome patients, who are at high risk of developing an aggressive form of Alzheimer’s**
Decades-old, **FDA-approved drug restored neuronal function, steering neurons away from producing toxic amyloid‑beta 42**
Drug would need to be taken ‘very, very early,’ before brain cells die
Existing human clinical data showed drug slowed the progression of Alzheimer’s pathology

Levetiracetam is the drug. I’m not sure why OP left it out of both the title and summary.
Does any companion animal (cat, dog, etc.) get Alzheimers?
levetiracetam – oh great. We’re gonna have a bunch of the same people who snort methylene blue start using this and getting keppra rage on the road
Neat, I guess I don’t have to worry about Alzheimer’s.
Thank god I am off of that drug. I am someone who is very laid back but during the few months I was using it I was angry from sunrise to sunset.
Everyone I ever met who was on keppra (common name of the drug tested) became extremely irritable or anxious. It’s been a nightmare for at least 3 of my friends.
