It’s just a bullshit cycle. About 10 years ago, the Republicans realized that attacking gay people was going to hurt them, instead of it being used to helping them. So, they had to find a new enemy to get the religious right worked up: trans people. So, the Republicans attack trans people, then the Democrats spend 5 minutes talking about trans issues, and then Fox News and Republicans will complain about Democrats always talking about trans people. Spin, cycle, repeat.
