      I read about it this morning and I just can’t believe it. Canada built a bridge with its own money, and he was offended that they did not buy steel from the United States and did not employ Americans to build it.

      Canada paid for the entire cost of the bridge, steel from both countries was used along with labour from both sides. The bridge will be owned and operated and maintained by a co operative from Canada and Detroit. That’s the facts. Somehow Trump thinks that Canada owes him more for the bridge? And there is also a weird crazy statement about China taking away hockey and the Stanley cup? I’m not sure who is feeding Trump this information, or if he is showing the early onset dementia. In either case I recommend Americans do something with this guy, the next thing you know there will be gremlins on the wing of Air Force one and then ICE will be directed to deport all gremlins.

      Given the history of this bridge I’m not surprised. Canada has consistently used the courts, used treaties, even fully financed it to get around a hurdle.

      Problem is the competing bridge crossing, the Ambassador Bridge is solely owned by a MAGA Republican family.

      It is of nationwide significance to both countries to remove the urban bottleneck on the busiest land border crossing between the United States and Canada.

      As much as an hour can be saved from every single crossing, that is a significant financial savings and increase in efficiency.

      1 billionaire is what’s stopping this, trying to preserve his horde of gold.

      Sounds like someone got a hefty donation from the Moroun family. Can’t have another bridge that directly competes with their privately owned Ambassador bridge just a few miles away, and especially one that has a bike lane and walkway. Heaven forbid the Canadian government in conjunction with the state of Michigan would want a public option for a border crossing.

      Carney called Trump early this morning. He pointed out that the bridge’s ownership is shared between the state of Michigan and the Canadian government and that the construction involved steel sourced from both countries, as well as both Canadian and American workers.

      The bridge that Canada paid 100% for? The bridge that used both Canadian and US materials and labor to build? The bridge that Michigan will get 50% of the toll revenue from after its paid off, for no apparent reason? Yeah that bridge.
